The School of the Good Shepherd is a Catholic Parish Primary School located on South Circular Road, Gladstone Park. The school was founded in 1975 and was developed to service the needs of the growing outer northwestern suburbs of Gladstone Park and Tullamarine in Melbourne. The school’s population has declined in recent years due to the opening of a new sister school within the parish to service the needs of families in the new housing estates. Our current enrolment is approximately 320 students with an equal distribution of students in each of the Junior, Middle and Senior areas of the school. The school has 13 classes, which are organised, into the following levels: Junior School (5 x P-2 classes), Middle School (4 x 3-4 classes) and Senior School (5 x 5-6 classes). The school community has evolved over the years from a mainly English speaking background to that of a predominately multicultural one with 68% of students from language backgrounds other than English. Many of the parents within our community have migrated to Australia and some of the cultures now involved in the school include Indian, Italian, Sri Lankan, Maltese, Iranian, Iraqi as well as many other European and Asian cultures. The socio-economic composition of the school ranges from self-employed and employed tradespersons, blue-collar workers and those with professional occupations. At present approximately 25% of families receive the educational maintenance allowance.

At the School of the Good Shepherd we believe…
  • A school where the teachings and presence of Jesus Christ is the foundation of our faith, culture and teaching.

  • Entrusted by the Parish of Good Shepherd to foster the Catholic tradition through prayer, liturgy and Sacraments in partnership with parents and parish.

  • A school that values the individual child. Their gifts, talents and potential inform what and how we teach.

  • A school that aims to provide children with opportunities for success – building self esteem and a love of learning to prepare for future challenges.

  • A school that offers a comprehensive curriculum, ensuring current educational theory and practice is considered and adopted when appropriate to the needs of the school.

  • A community, which believes each member, has a unique contribution to make. We work together to achieve a supportive and caring environment where all children can develop and grow.
